Since our acquisition announcement in April the Wercker team has worked non-stop with our colleagues at Oracle to build our shared vision.
Today, we are one step closer to realizing our dream of a feature-complete, end-to-end, Docker-based developer lifecycle management tool. We'd like to introduce Wercker Releases, Pipelines, and Clusters.
Wercker’s mission has always been to enable developers to focus on what matters most: innovating and building great products and applications in a simple, repeatable and reliable way. Previously, Wercker empowered organizations and their development teams to achieve continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) goals with micro-services and Docker through our container-centric and cloud-native automation platform.
Now we're pleased to announce Wercker Pipelines, Releases and Clusters!
What's in the platform?
The new service has three “panes of glass”: pipelines, releases, and clusters
Enables full build, test and deployment pipelines to be executed, with Docker as a first class citizen and a set of collaboration tools. Wercker, as you know and love it.
A Docker V2 compatible managed Container Registry Service. It is fully integrated with Wercker Pipelines; you can store, version and share your containers inside of Releases and subsequently use them with Pipelines, either as base, or service images. There is no need for usernames, passwords and repository name, as the registry infers these from your Wercker application
Enables you to create fully managed (plain vanilla!) Kubernetes clusters. By leveraging the Oracle Container Engine, running on top of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, these are highly performant and redundant clusters, with node-pools across multiple availability domains. Use Clusters for your container deployments from inside Wercker.
Build. Deploy. Operate
Wercker Pipelines, Releases and Clusters allow you to run your containerized applications that are built with pipelines, stored in releases and are operated by a high performant and reliable cloud platform. Whats more, all this is accessible from one dashboard inside of Wercker!
We're opening up Wercker Pipelines, Releases and clusters as a Tech Preview.
Why a Tech Preview?
We care about developers, and we don't want to build a tool in isolation. In the spirit of open development, we want your feedback on how to build the best platform we can. Please sign up here.
Joining forces with Oracle means we have aligned with a hyperscale cloud provider that will enable us to bring our vision of to a broader range of customers, use cases and applications. We're proud to have stood shoulder to shoulder with some of the most talented and committed developers out there. To that end, we urge you to have a look at the great work from our Serverless friends at Iron.io and have a peruse of the Oracle Developers Blog to read about the other announcements at Oracle Open World and Java One blog.
Did you know we built some amazing steps to help Java developers containerize their applications and deploy them to Kubernetes! We've got steps for Maven, Gradle, JLink and Java Flight recorder! Take a look!
